WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore shortstop Alyssa "Louie" Clark belted a pair of home runs and senior left fielder Sarah Meunier added a towering blast to power the Owls to a 9-1 win over Fitchburg State in game 2 of a MASCAC doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

Fitchburg grabbed game one by a 10-4 final.

In the nightcap, on a day where the temperature barely topped the freezing mark, the Owls bats heated up in the third inning.   Trailing 1-0, senior 3B Jordyn Carpenter provided the first two runs on a solid single to center, and then Clark raked the first of her two home runs with a line shot over the left-centerfield fence.

Two hitters later, Meunier launched a 2-run moonshot to left for a 6-1 Owls lead.

In the fourth, Carpenter plated one run with a groundout, and then Clark followed with a no-doubt liner over the left field fence that extended the lead to 9-1.  Clark finished 2-3 with four RBI, while Carpenter drove in three runs.

Frashman Stephanie Scoville earned her second win of the season, tossing a 5-inning complete game with five strikeouts.

Dana Cisowski was the lone repeat hitter for the Falcons.   Starting pitcher Taylor Colvin took the loss, tiring in the thirfd inning after tossing a complete game in game 1.

Colvin went the distance for the Falcons in the opener, scattering seven hits and three earned runs while striking out six.

The Falcons got all the offense they needed in the first inning, scoring five times before the Owls came to bat. Audrey Johnson, Julie Savone and Morgan Comier all recorded RBI singles in the inning.

Meunier drove in a pair of runs with a double to dead centerfield in the bottom half of the inning to trim the lead to 5-2, but Fitchburg tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the inning, including an RBI double from Johnson.

Johnson finished 3-4 at the plate and scored twice in game one, while Hayley O'Brien added a pair of hits and 3 rbi.

Westfield got two hits each from Meunier and Farrah Adam.

The Owls and Falcons will face each other again tomorrow, this time at Fitchburg in a non-league doubleheader.
