Women's Basketball falls in MASCAC opener to Bears 76-42

Bridgewater, MA- The Bridgewater State women's basketball team placed three players in double figures and forced 32 turnovers as they ran past the MCLA Trailblazers 76-42 this afternoon in the MASCAC opener at the Tinsley Center. The Bears are now 5-9 overall and 1-0 in the MASCAC.
MCLA falls to 2-9 overall and is 0-1 in the conference.
Both teams struggled to get going in this one as midway through the first quarter it was just 5-5. The Bears would outscore MCLA 13-0 over the final five minutes to take control and lead 18-5 after one quarter. The Bears would increase the margin to 32-15 at halftime.
Bridgewater would quell any thoughts of an MCLA comeback with a 22-12 third quarter. They would cruise home from there.
Destiny Fitzgerald and Hannah Dziadyk led the Bears with 12 points each. Fitzpatrick added 7 rebounds. Sydney Bradbury came off the bench to score 11 points. The Bears overcame a 37% shooting effort in the win.
MCLA was paced by Erika Ryan. The senior had her best game of the season amassing 8 points, 11 blocks, and 12 rebounds. Hannah Mazzeo notched just 5 points, but snagged 11 rebounds.
The Trailblazers shot just 31% and had trouble with the BSU pressure all afternoon.
MCLA is back in action on Tuesday night when they host Fitchburg State at 5:30.
