Nichols Edges Women’s Ice Hockey; 3-1

Burrillville, RI – The Framingham State women's ice hockey team was defeated by Nichols College a score of 3-1 in non-conference action Friday evening in Burrillville. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Nichols 3, Framingham State 1 

  • Records: Nichols (2-0-0), Framingham State (0-2-0) 

  • Location: Burrillville, RI 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Nichols struck early in the first period, netting three goals within the first 14 minutes.  

  • Alexis Pacheco opened the scoring at 4:36, with assists from Grace Melanson and Anneliese Klein. Angalisa Caceda added two more goals, including a power-play goal at 13:51, which ultimately secured the game for Nichols.  

  • Framingham State responded in the second period with a goal by Kalina Cochran at 7:23. Cochran's goal was the first goal in the program's history. 

 

KEY PERFORMERS: 

Nichols: 

  • Angalisa Caceda: Tallied two goals, including one on the power play. 

  • Paige Almon: Secured the win as the starting goalie, making 11 saves on 12 shots. 

Framingham State: 

  • Lila Chamoun: Kept Framingham competitive with 50 saves on 53 shots. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots on Goal: Nichols dominated with 74 shots compared to Framingham's 12. 

  • Power Play Efficiency: Nichols converted one of four power-play opportunities, while Framingham went 0 for 1. 

  • Penalties: Framingham had 8 penalty minutes on four infractions, while Nichols had 4 penalty minutes on two infractions.
