WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY GETS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON, DOUBLE UP THE TRAILBLAZERS

NORTH ADAMS, MA – The Anna Maria Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to North Adams, MA on Saturday November 23, 2024, to take on the MCLA Trailblazers. The AMCATS won the game 4-2.

The Trailblazers would open up the scoring just eleven minutes into the game with an unassisted goal from Belle Wurmser. Despite the first goal of the game from the Trailblazers, the AMCATS would battle back quickly and would not wait long till they would get the equalizer off a powerplay goal from Emma McGuane, off a pass from Jordyn Bleaney. That would conclude the scoring in the first period with both teams tied at 1-1

The AMCATS would look to come out strong in the second period, using the momentum from the first period after the tying goal to the Trailblazers. The puck would go back and forth with both teams getting offensive chances, but it would be again the Trailblazers to strike first again in the second period to get the go-ahead goal against the AMCATS. The Trailblazers second goal would come off a powerplay goal off a pass from Maggie Danchak for Alex Bednar to put it in for the Trailblazers. Again the AMCATS would have to come from behind against the Trailblazers, and the AMCATS would do just that scoring about four minutes after the Trailblazers off a goal from Morgan Daly. Daly goal would come off an offensive rush from Ceili Nolan that would slide the puck across to Morgan Daly to tie the game 2 to 2 against the Trailblazers. The second period would end in a tie, just like the first, so it would leave the third period to decide the game, would the AMCATS have what it takes to pull out a win against Trailblazers.

The AMCATS would come out strong offensively, completely silencing the Trailblazers in the third period. The AMCATS would come out strong offensively, but it would also be AMCAT goalie Megan Tegethoff to close the door in the third period against the Trailblazers, not allowing a single goal in the third period. It would be both teams that would go back and forth at the beginning of the third period, but it would be Olympia Myers that would tuck one home for the AMCATS off a pass from Trinity Kehoe to get the go-ahead goal on the Trailblazers. This would be the first lead of the night for the AMCATS. The game would continue to go back and forth, with the Trailblazers giving it all they had but it would be the AMCATS to battle against the Trailblazers shutting down any momentum the Trailblazers would have in the third to try and tie the game. It would be Ceili Nolan that would really end the momentum for the Trailblazers with about one minute left, Nolan would take a shot from the top of the circles and beat Trailblazers goalie top shelf over the shoulder adding to the AMCATS lead scoring the fourth goal of the game. The AMCATS would pull out the come from behind win against the Trailblazers beating them 4 to 2.
