Quick Strike Leads Suffolk Over Women’s Soccer; 1-0

Framingham, Mass. The Suffolk University women's soccer team scored early in regulation and that is all they would need as they defeated Framingham State by a score of 1-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Suffolk got on the board in the 4th minute when Hayley Long redirected a strike from Kylie Flynn for her first goal of the season.  

  • The visitors had a few opportunities to pad their lead, but Rams keeper Jetta Oskirko made multiple stops in the first half to keep the game at 1-0 headed to the half making a total of nine saves on the day for the Rams.  

  • Sophia Barker registered three saves in the shutout win for Suffolk.  

  • Suffolk held an advantage in shots, 19-to-4, 10-to-3 in shots on goal and led in corner kicks 2-to-1.  

  • The physical battle saw the visitors called for 11 fouls and one caution to the host called for five fouls and no cards.

  • The Framingham Rams return to the pitch on Wednesday evening when they host Elms College at 7pm. The Boston Rams will host Bridgewater State for non-conference action Tuesday at 7pm.
