Softball Sweeps Doubleheader with MCLA
Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team picked up a pair of five inning victories this afternoon as they defeated MCLA 12-0 and 8-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Maple Street Field.

Game 1:

In the opener, the Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI fielder's choice from Talia Duca and an error.

The Rams opened the game up with seven in the second extending the lead to 9-0. Brooke Grassia reached on an infield single driving in a pair and Makayla Rooney added a two-run single up the middle. Gwendolyn Carpenter added a three-run homer in the frame.

The Rams added two more in the third and one in the fourth to reach the final margin.

Grassia finished the game with three hits and two RBI, while Rooney chipped in with three hits, three runs scored and three RBI.

Carpenter picked up three hits with a run scored and four RBI, while Angelina Lynch also recorded a pair of hits.
Game 2:

In game two, the Rams plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning on a two run double from Carpenter who then stole home later in the inning. Duca added a sacrifice fly in the inning.

The Rams added a single run in the bottom of the third on a fielder's choice and a single run in the fourth on a Grassia sacrifice fly.

The Rams plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth on solo homer from Carpenter and a Keely Scotia RBI double to reach the eight-run margin.

Olyvia Mendonca earned the victory in the circle going five innings allowing no runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

Carpenter went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI,
