Women's Basketball Soars Past Fitchburg State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back as the Rams defeated Fitchburg State 88-46 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were paced by 18 points off the bench from Kiara Cerruti. Cerruti connected on 8-of-11 from the floor including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.  

  • Katherine Haselton finished the night with 16 points, five rebounds and an assist, while Shaelagh Green added 10 points off the bench. 

  • Faith Greene racked up a double-double  scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards, while Abigail Martin added eight points and five rebounds.  

  • The Rams offense opened the game on fire as they opened an 11-0 lead after a Faith Greene layup with 6:29 on the clock.  The Rams used threes from Katherine Haselton, Bridget Trainor and Chloe Rayko to push the lead to 20-0. 

  • The Falcons got on the board on a free throw from Stephanie Hart with 3:21 on the clock and they received their first field goal, a layup from Caileen Hurley, with 2:09 on the clock.  

  • The Rams, who connected on 5-of-10 from behind the arc in the opening quarter, led 27-3 after the opening quarter. 

  • The Rams maintained the large lead throughout the second quarter and led 50-16 at the half. The Rams shot 44% from the field in the first two quarters, while the Falcons shot just 18%.
