Softball Drops Two at Babson

Babson Park, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon at Babson by scores of 1-0 and 3-2 at Alumni Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Babson 1, Framingham State 0 

  • In the opener, the game was scoreless through three and a half before the Beavers plated the only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single. 

  • Ally Moran took the loss in the circle for the Rams going seven innings, allowing a single unearned run on four hits with a strikeout and no walks. 

  • For Babson, Katie Vlacich earned the victory scattering six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. 

  • Gwendolyn Carpenter went 3-for-3 in the game for the Rams, while Eliza Carignan went 1-for-3 with a double 

Game 2: Babson 3, Framingham State 2 

  • In game two, the Beavers plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walkoff with the victory. 

  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single from Shelby Roode. 

  • The Rams received an RBI single from Makayla Rooney in the top of the fifth pushing the lead to 2-0, but Babson plated three in the seventh to secure the victory. 

  • Caroline Hughes took the loss in the circle going six and two thirds, allowing three earned runs on six hits with a walk and a strikeout. 

  • Carpenter went 2-for-4 in the game with a run score, while Rooney added two hits and an RBI.

The Rams are back in action Saturday when they travel to Worcester State for a pair of MASCAC games beginning at 12 p.m.
