
Men’s Hoops Earns 74-63 Win at Bridgewater State Friday Night
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team bested Bridgewater State 74-63 in the opening tilt of the BSU Cave Classic Tip-Off Tournament Friday evening in the first matchup since 2001.
The Lions improve to 3-3 on the year with the win while the Bears slide to 0-5 overall.
Bernie McGuinness (Cumming, Ga.) poured in a team-high 18 points while hauling in eight rebounds. Nick Manso (Brick, N.J.) tallied 16 points and added five boards. Levi Grady-White (Springfield, Mass.) recorded 15 points and nine rebounds. Corey McGhee (Alexandria, Va.) chipped in with nine points while Ozzy Traill III (Valley Stream, N.Y.) registered eight boards, seven assists, and six points.
After a closely-contested opening half which featured five lead-changes and three ties, the visitors sported a 34-23 advantage after chalking up the final six points of the frame.
Eastern Nazarene extended the margin to 20 with 14:43 remaining in regulation as McGuinness banked in a layup, 47-27.
Bridgewater State cut the deficit to five, 63-58, on a free throw by Camden Dunbury with 4:01 on the clock.
The Lions regained a double-figure lead with 2:19 to go as McGuinness and Grady-White each converted one shot from the charity stripe, 70-58.
The guests sank 4-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to seal their 13th all-time win over the Bears.
Eastern Nazarene shot 40% from the floor and 36.4% from three-point territory on the night. Bridgewater State finished with a field-goal percentage of 37.7% while being limited to 2-for-18 shooting from beyond the arc.
Dunbury led the home team with a game-high 21 points. Jordan Wetterlind netted 13 points and David Laine added 10 points.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will take on the winner of Friday's clash between Anna Maria and Middlebury November 20 in the BSU Cave Classic Tip-Off Tournament championship.
