Wehner's 20-20 night leads MCLA past Framingham State

North Adams, MA- MCLA junior forward Jen Wehner's 27 points and 21 rebounds led the Trailblazer women past visiting Framingham State University 65-53 in MASCAC action in the Amsler Campus Center.  With the win, MCLA is now 10-5 overall, 2-1 in the league while the Rams fall to 9-7 overall, 1-3 in the league.

Wehner took control in the second half as she tallied 21 points and 13 boards after intermission.  She also helped MCLA hold a commanding edge off the glass as the Trailblazers outrebounded the Rams 63-41. 

Framingham actually led at the half 27-23 and jumped out to their largest lead of the night at 34-27 with 15:56 to play.  MCLA would then use a 7-0 zip run to tie the game.  After trading hoops, Framingham would take a 39-38 edge before the Trailblazers used a 14-2 run to take command at 52-41.  The Rams would get no closer than nine the rest of the way.

A tightly contested opening half saw MCLA jump out to an early 12-7 lead following a Lucy Tremblay three pointer.  The Rams would battle back and eventually take their first lead of the night at 17-16 on an Emily Clark layup with 5:33 left in the half.  Framingham would lead by as many as five in the opening frame before settling for a 27-23 lead at the break.  Clark had a solid opening half garnering 13 of the Rams 27 points on 6 of 7 shooting. 

Wehner went 9 for 18 from the floor, 9 of 12 from the free throw for her totals.  She would also add four blocks.  Fellow junior Courtney Terzi would add 12 points and six rebounds.  Alie Dobrovolc would add 9 points and 10 boards.

The Rams were led by Clark who finished with 19 points, only six after halftime.  Freshmen Kristen Hoffman added 15 points.  Kia Minor led Framingham with 15 rebounds, seven offensive.

MCLA offset 18 turnovers with a 16-1 edge in second chance points.

The Trailblazers will host Fitchburg State on Saturday at 1pm.
