Lancers Edge Women’s Soccer 4-2 in MASCAC Clash

Framingham, Mass. The Worcester State women's soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 4-2 in MASCAC action Friday evening at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Worcester State 4, Framingham State 2 

- Records:Framingham State (3-11-1, 3-3 MASCAC), Worcester State (4-9-1, 3-3 MASCAC) 

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Lancers got on the board in the 11th minute when Haley Mignon won a 50/50 ball, dribbled around a defender and sent a strike inside the right post.  

  • The Rams answered when Hailey Baker chipped a pass to Cathryn Cooney who sent a strike into the net.  

  • Worcester scored a few minutes before half-time when Erin Condon finished off an Emma Koopman pass.  

  • The visitors added to their lead in the 60th minute when Raelyn Callahan finished off a onetime pass from Hailey Skowronski.  

  • Grayson Tellier cut the Rams deficit to one goal when she bent in a long strike under the crossbar in the 83rd minute.  

  • The Lancers answered less than 30 seconds later when Mignon scored again to reach the final margin.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Rams goalkeeper Jetta Oskirko made 14 saves in the setback.  

  • Mallory Dupuis earned the win in net for the Lancers turning away one Rams attempt.  

  • The Lancers outshot the Rams 36-to-7 in the contest and had four corner kick attempts to the Rams two.  

 

UP NEXT: 

The Lancers return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 26th when they host UMass Dartmouth at 7pm. The Rams will host Fisher College on the same day at 4:30pm. Prior to the contest the Rams will honor the six women's soccer student-athletes who are playing in the final season: Ashley Fenton, Brooke Fenton, Olivia Renda, Sam Walsh, Briana Hyppolite & Calen Frongillo.
