Women’s Soccer Edges Nichols in Thrilling 2-1 Victory

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Nichols College, with a last-minute goal from Beyonce Gray proving to be the game-winner. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Framingham State 2, Nichols 1 

  • Records: Framingham State (2-6-1), Nichols (3-4-2) 

  • Location: Framingham, MA – Maple Street Field 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Framingham State took the lead in the 18th minute when Hailey Ring scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0.  

  • Both teams battled defensively for the remainder of the half, with Nichols pressing hard but unable to find the equalizer. 

  • Nichols found their breakthrough in the 55th minute, when Natalie Gray scored an unassisted goal to level the score at 1-1. 

  •  With the game seemingly heading toward a draw, Framingham State's Beyonce Gray stepped up in the 89th minute, finishing off a deflection off the post to give the Rams a dramatic 2-1 victory.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Nichols dominated in shots, outshooting Framingham State 24-10, but couldn't convert their chances as the Rams defense, led by goalkeeper Madison Magone, held firm. 

  • Framingham State's Magone made 13 saves, a crucial part of the Rams' win. 

  • Nichols goalkeepers Hannah Deschene and Saige Frazier combined for 5 saves. 

  • Nichols earned 7 corner kicks, all in the first half, while Framingham State had 4 in the second half.
