Men's Basketball Uses Second Half Run to Defeat Bridgewater State 78-75

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team used a 16-2 second half run to erase a double digit deficit and take the lead for good as the Rams defeated Bridgewater State 78-75 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were paced by 24 points apiece from Joshua Saint Jean and Kyle Philistin. Saint Jean connected on 9-of-13 from the floor and added seven boards, five assists and a steal, while Philistin connected on 9-of-14 from the floor including 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Philistin added four rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

  • JD Okafor chipped in with 10 points on 5-of-7 from the floor and added a pair of rebounds, while Jordan Howard finished with nine points and four rebounds. 

  • In the opening half, the Rams used a 6-0 run capped by a JD Okafor layup to lead 12-6 with just under 13 minutes on the clock. 

  • The Bears responded with a 13-0 spurt of their own taking a 19-12 lead with 8:39 on the clock. The Rams closed the gap to two (29-27) on an Adonis Vashon three with just under four on the clock, but the Bears extended the lead back to seven 39-32 at the half. 

  • The Bears pushed the lead to 51-41 just under five minutes into the second, but the Rams used a 16-2 run capped by a three from Philistin to lead 57-53 with 11:27 on the clock. 

  • The Bears closed the gap to one (64-63) on a Louis Jennings three with 8:26 on the clock, but the Rams used a 7-0 capped by a Jordan Howard jumper to push the lead to 71-63. 

  • The Bears pulled within three on a dunk from Samuel Omisore with 1:40 on the clock but would get no closer as the Rams held on for the victory.
