Field Hockey Edged by Wellesley; 2-1

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State field hockey team was edged by the Wellesley College Blue 2-1 in non-conference action Friday afternoon in the opening contest for both squads 

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Wellesley 2, Framingham State 1

- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Blue got on the board right away when Cassidy Novello knocked one into the cage after a scramble infront of the net.  

  • The Rams answered early in the second frame when Angeline Serra converted on a penalty after passes from Isabella Kondi & Angelina Serra.

  • The Blue broke the tie in the 41st minute when River Schiff dribbled in a long pass from Alex Lenart and sent it home.  

  • The Rams had a 2-on-1 break in the final minutes but Wellesley goalie Kyra Deehr-Lewis can crashing out, sliding into a Rams forward and breaking up the attack.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Kaitlyn Tello made eight saves in net in her first collegiate action for the Rams.  

  • Kyra Deehr-Lewis made three stops in the win for the Blue. 

  • The Blue held the advantage in shots 18-to-5 and penalty corner opportunities 11-to-1 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Lasell for 3pm clash. The Blue host St Joe's of Maine on Sunday at noon.
