Owls Volleyball Blanks RIC, 3-0

WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State senior Shawna Crowley hammered 12 kills and had 11 digs to lead the way for Westfield State as the Owls scored a 3-0 win over Rhode Island College in a non-conference volleyball match at the Woodward Center on Thursday evening.

Westfield posted game scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-19.  The Owls improved to 6-9 overall while the Anchorwomen are now 4-10.

RIC jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one on the strength of three straight service aces from Grace Albritton to open the game, but the Owls won eight out of nine points midway through the game to take command.

The Owls slowly drew away in the second and third games for a straight set win.

Ashley Crowley and Brigette McAndrews each added seven kills for Westfield.  Morgan Dority finished with 21 assists and Julia Dangel-Garcia handed out 13 in a two-setter alignment.

Ameilia Murphy totaled 11 kills for RIC. Natalie Reid finished with 23 assists.
