Men’s Hockey Ties UMass Dartmouth, 3-3

BOSTON – Down 3-2 with the end of regulation looming, Griffin Clark struck the equalizer with 1:33 left in regulation to boost Suffolk men's hockey to a 3-3 draw with UMass Dartmouth Tuesday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | UMass Dartmouth 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-5-1) | UMass Dartmouth (3-3-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sky Silverstein lit the lamp 43 seconds in into the action with help from Jake Maynard and Tyler Stewart to boost the visitors ahead early. Silverstein chipped the puck past Cal Wilcox in a scrum in front of the net to help the Corsairs take a one-goal advantage that stayed at the first intermission.

UMD capitalized on a man-up opportunity in the second stanza when Dominic Dumas converted a pass from Caly Ellerbrock.

Down by two less than two minutes into the middle period, Suffolk played catchup with a pair of power play goals in a 41-second span. First Ryan Harrigan scored thanks to a set-up from Griffin Clark. Phil Decresce followed suit with a slap shot from the blue line. Max Rand and Ryan Webb assisted on the game-tying goal.

Things stayed at 2-all until the 13:04 minute when Michael Perrone restored the Corsairs cushion. Matthew Zdanowicz and Silverstein aided the marker that pushed UMD in front, 3-2.

Suffolk chased one goal yet again. The Rams controlled the pace of the third period and as time ticked one it appeared as though they could not figure Daniel Davidson out.

Thankfully, the Corsairs were whistled for a major penalty with just over five minutes to go and it boosted the blue-and-gold's chance. After Clark won a face-off, Wilcox was called to a bench as Suffolk zoomed into UMass Dartmouth's zone. Suffolk peppered Davidson with shots and the third attempt was too much for the Corsairs netminder as Clark's shot from just outside the left face-off dot zoomed past the goalie stick side to level the playing field at 3-all at the 18:27 mark.

Both goaltenders made one save over the final minute of regulation to force the extra session and did their job in overtime to keep the tie intact.
