Softball Splits a Pair with Wesleyan and Roger Williams

Winter Haven, Fla. - The Framingham State University softball team split a pair of games this morning falling 1-0 to Wesleyan University before defeating Roger Williams University 2-1 at the Spring Games.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Wesleyan 1, Framingham State 0 
Framingham State 2, Roger Williams 1 

-Records: Framingham State (4-4), Wesleyan (3-2), Roger Williams (2-6)  

- Location: The Spring Games Winter Haven, Fla.  

FSU-Wesleyan 

  • Wesleyan scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as they capitalized on a Ram error to score an unearned run. 

  •  Ally Moran pitched well for the Rams going six innings allowing just the one unearned run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. 

  • Brooklin Williams earned the win for Wesleyan going seven shutout innings allowing just three hits with nine strikeouts and a walk. 

  • Brooke Grassia, Angelina Lynch and Kelsey McGuill each recorded hits for the Rams in the game.  

FSU-Roger Williams 

  • The Rams grabbed the early lead against Roger Williams with a run in the bottom of the second inning. After a pair of walks to start the inning and a strikeout, Zoe Smyth grounded out and the run came home on a Roger Williams error. 

  • After three scoreless innings, the Rams pushed an insurance run across in the bottom of the sixth inning. Camille Desrochers double and pinch runner Olyvia Mendonca came around to score on an RBI single to center from Gwendolyn Carpenter. 

  • Roger Williams was able to score a run in the top of seventh with one out, but the Rams were able to close the game with a ground out and a pop out to secure the victory. 

  • Rylynn Witek earned the victory in the circle for the Rams going seven innings allowing one earned run on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. 

  • Desrochers, Carpenter, McGuill and Makayla Rooney each recorded hits for the Rams in the game.

The Rams are back in action Friday when they face St. Mary's (Ind.) and Carleton at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
