Men’s Soccer Gets in the Win Column with 1-0 Victory Over Worcester State

Worcester, MA – The Framingham State men's soccer team secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Worcester State on Saturday, thanks to a late goal by John Holt, earning the Rams their first win of the season. The win was also the first win for Rams first-year head coach Adam Gabbard. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Framingham State 1, Worcester State 0 

  • Records: Framingham State (1-11-2, 1-4), Worcester State (3-8-1, 2-2-1) 

  • Location: Coughlin Field - Worcester, MA 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a tightly contested first half with no goals, the Rams broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute. John Holt collected a pass evading two defenders leading to a breakaway, dribbling around the Lancers keeper and finding the back of the open net.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Shots: Worcester State outshot Framingham 18-10, but Framingham was more accurate, putting eight on target compared to Worcester's eight. 

Saves: Michael Walker of Framingham stopped all eight shots on goal, while Sergio Torrado made five saves for Worcester. 

Corner Kicks: Worcester State earned four corner kicks, but Framingham did not have any.
