Men’s Ice Hockey Can’t Hold on Versus Owls

WESTFIELD, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team took on the Westfield State Owls at the Amelia Ice Center on Thursday evening.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS were the first on the scoreboard, scoring a power-play goal in the closing minutes of the first period. Following a hooking penalty on the Owls' Ryan O'Halloran, the AMACTS controlled the faceoff in the Owls' defensive end and cycled around from the left faceoff circle back along the blue line to freshman winger Braeden McKinnon (Holland Landing, ON) who pushed it towards Guillaume Coulombe (Ste-Julie, QC) in the corner for a centering pass through the crease to a crashing Derek Raposo (Hannon, ON) for his second goal of the season from the left side of the net at the 18:16 mark.
  • The Owls answered back in the third period, scoring two goals in the span of just over three minutes. The first goal was by Cooper Board at 5:53 and the second was a power-play goal at 8:54 by Brett Williams.
  • Sophomore goaltender Zack Roncarati (East Longmeadow, MA) recorded 24 saves on 26 shots in his first start of the season.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be in action again on Saturday when they play host to the Plymouth State Panthers, at the Horgan Arena. The teams will take the ice for a 5:40 PM puck drop.
