Baseball Closes Spring Trip with Loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire

Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team closed their spring break training trip with an 18-8 loss in seven innings to Wisconsin-Eau Claire this morning in non-conference action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Lake Myrtle Complex. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Wis.-Eau Claire 18, Framingham State 8 (7 Innings) 

-Records: Framingham State (1-11), Wis.-Eau Claire (6-5) 

- Location: Lake Myrtle Complex Auburndale, Fla. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Wis.-Eau Claire grabbed a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth and added one more in the bottom of the second to lead 5-0. 

  • They extended the lead to 10-0 with one run in the third and four more in the fourth. 

  • The Rams plated six runs in the top of the fifth closing the gap to 10-6.  Daniel Robichaud drove in a pair with a single to right and JC Espinal added an RBI infield single.   Matthew Hart plated a run with a single and Jakob Lindkvist walked with the bases loaded.  Peter Rubini capped the inning with an RBI single to left. 

  • Wis.-Eau Claire responded with eight runs in the fifth and sixth extending the lead to 18-6. 

  • The Rams received a two run single up the middle in the top of the seventh from Rosco Palmer to reach the final margin. 

  • Cam Prescott started on the mound for the Rams and took the loss going two innings and allowing five runs on six hits with four strikeouts. 

  • Espial finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, while Massimo Mondi finished the day 2-for-4 wiht a run scored and a walk. 

  • Robichaud finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Lindkvist finished the day 1-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and two walks.

The Rams are back in action up north when they travel to Nichols on Tuesday afternoon.
