Women’s Basketball drops road decision to Anna Maria, 62-51

Paxton, MA- Anna Maria forward Marinique Reddin scored 20 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, to lift the AMCAT's to their first win of the season over MCLA tonight, 62-51. With the win Anna Maria improves to 1-4 while MCLA drops to 2-7.

MCLA would trail by as many as nine in the second quarter but a 13-2 run to close out the half would put the visitors up 27-26 at the break.

With neither team able to get any separation in the third quarter, the AMCAT's would find themselves up 45-44 heading into the final quarter. Anna Maria would come out of the gates on a 9-0 run pushing their lead to 54-44 following an Arianna Sladini 3-pointer with 6:43 left to play.

A Kristie Zator 3-pointer at the 4:29 mark would close the gap to 54-47 but the Trailblazers would get no closer and ultimately fall 62-51.

Reddin grabbed 11 boards in addition to her 20 points while teammates Megan Burdett finished with 9 points and Gina Parmenter, Chloe Giordano and Saladini all chipped in 8-points apiece.

Zator led MCLA with 16 points and 10 rebounds while classmate Zaylee Ramos finished with 7 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Brooke DiGennaro reached double figures with 11-points.

Anna Maria shot 44.2% from the field including 5-18 from beyond the 3-point arc. MCLA shot just 31.3% going 5-21 from long range.

Anna Maria is back in action Saturday when they host St. Joseph (CT) at 2pm. MCLA is back on the road next Tuesday travelling to Bard for a 7pm tip-off.
