Salem, Mass. – The Framingham State men's soccer team was defeated by Salem State by a score of 1-0 in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon in Salem

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a scoreless first half it was the Vikings who struck first. Vanilton Xavier scored the first goal of the game off a pass from Brendan Walsh, after a missing a similar opportunity earlier in the game.

Kunphel Sinha had a promising 25-foot kick for the Rams that was saved by Matt Hauntsman at the 75-minute mark. Hauntsman made another incredible save with just eight minutes left in the game to keep the Rams from scoring.

Hauntsman made nine saves in the shutout win for Salem.

Joseph Sturzo made eight saves in the tough luck loss for the Rams.

Salem held a slim 15-to-12 advantage in shots while earning eight penalty kicks to the Rams two.
