Framingham, Mass.- The Pine Manor men's soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 3-2 in overtime Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Pine Manor College 3, Framingham State 2 (OT)
- Records: Framingham State (3-5), Pine Manor Gators (7-1-1)
- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Gators got on the board in the 7th minute when Jose Gonzalez (Houston, TX) sent in a one-time pass from Oscar Uriel Roque (Santa Rose, CA).
- The Rams answered in the 15th minute when Gustavo Cassemiro (Minas Gerais, Brazil) chipped in a 50-50 ball with the goalie after a long serve from Jared Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.).
- The Gators finally broke the stale mate in the 79th minute after a Rams foul in the box setup a Moel Rios (El Paso, TX) penalty kick conversion.
- The Rams were awarded a penalty just over five minutes later the Isaac De Souze (Sao Paulo, Brazil) converted to tie the game back at 2.
- Yet another foul early in overtime set up a straight on kick from just outside the box for the Gators that Elmer Pineda (Santa Rosa, CA) buried to end the contest.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Junior Angel Pena (Eagle Pass, TX) made five saves in net for the Gators.
- Senior Corey Davidge (Blackstone, Mass.) made 11 stops in the loss for Framingham State.
- The Gators outshot the Rams by a 25-to-13 margin overall (14-to-7 on goal) and held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
UP NEXT:
The Rams return to action on Friday, September 27th when they travel to Mass Maritime for a MASCAC matchup at 7pm. The Gators host Northern Vermont- Johnson at 4pm on Saturday, September 28th.
