Baseball Triumphs in Slugfest with MCLA

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team erupted for 17 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Rams erased a seven run deficit and took the lead for good in a 27-18 victory over MCLA this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field.

- Records: Framingham State (3-11, 2-2 MASCAC), MCLA (4-13, 1-3 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams tallied 23 hits in the game including three doubles, three triples and a home run, while also taking advantage of eight walks and five hit batters. 

  • The Rams trailed 13-6 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning. The Rams would send 22 batters to the plate in the inning and tally 17 runs on nine hits taking a 23-13 lead. 

  • Daniel Robichaud went 4-for-6 at the plate in the game with a triple, home run, four runs scored and four RBI, while Dane Frellick finished the day 2-for-5 with two runs scored and five RBI. 

  • Cam Gilroy went 2-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Lucas Basile went 5-for-7 in the game with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and four RBI. 

  • Ryan Boyle recorded three hits and drove in three and JC Espinal added three hits, three runs scored and two RBI, while Robert Johnston added two hits, four runs scored, two RBI and three walks. 

  • Danill Rye earned the victory by tossing two innings of relief allowing one earned run, while Scott Nosky tossed an inning of scoreless relief.
