HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1 -

  • In the opener, Kirsten Dick came within a single of the cycle and drove in four runs, including a two-run first inning double that gave the Rams all of the runs they would need.
  • Dick belted a solo homer off the top of the scoreboard in right field to extend that margin to 3-0 in the third inning, and she added an RBI triple in the fifth.
  • Payton Ceglarski closed out the scoring with a two-run pinch-hit single in the sixth.
  • Laela Pepin added two hits in the win for the Rams.
  • Shannon Ward scattered five hits and struck out six to improve to 11-2 with the complete game victory.
  • Rebecca Walker and Payton Jeffers each had two hits for Vikings, while Sierra Ricci took the loss in the circle after allowing one earned run and fanning six in 5 1/3 innings.

Game 2 -

  • In game two, the Rams’ Ally Moran locked up in a pitcher’s duel with Salem State’s Emily Carter that was scoreless into the bottom of the sixth inning.
  • Gwen Carpenter and Grace Swanson scored on a pair of errors in the sixth to break the deadlock, but the Vikings sliced that margin in half in the top of the seventh when Gracie Hogan stole home.
  • Moran stranded the tying run at third by inducing a game-ending groundout, as she struck out eight to earn her 10th win in 13 decisions this season.
