Owls Fall at Plymouth

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Plymouth State sophomore Cameron Patton (Bible Hill, Nova Scotia) recorded a pair of goals as the Owls were shutout by Plymouth State 4-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game from Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday night.

The Panthers extend their winning streak to seven games, and have yet to lose a conference game this year, improving to 8-0 in the MASCAC and 11-3-1 overall. The Owls drop to 5-7-1 on the season and 2-5 in conference play.

Plymouth scored a pair of goals in the first period less than two minutes apart. Junior Carson Lanceleve (Stewiacke, Nova Scotia) buried a power play goal 11:41 into the period with Ethan Stuckless (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) and Myles Abbate (Norwell, Mass.) tallying the assists. 1:24 later, Patton scored his first goal of the contest to double the Panthers lead. Rider MacCallum (Langley, British Columbia) and Payton Schaly (Orillia, Ontario) facilitated on the scoring play.

After a scoreless second period, Plymouth struck quickly out of the second intermission with consecutive goals within three minutes of the start of the period. Anton Jelvic connected for his eighth goal of the season with Patton registering his second of the night to put the game out of reach.

Owls goalie Valtteri Valtonen (Helsinki, Finland) was battered with shots throughout the game, tying his season high in saves with 49 stops on 53 shots on net. Panthers' netminder Brendahn Brawley (Morton, Pa.) secured the shutout with 22 saves as he won his 10th game in 13 starts for the Panthers.

Westfield State will look to get back in the win column in their next game where the Owls will host Worcester State in their first home game since December 3 on Thursday at 7:35 P.M. from Amelia Park Arena in Westfield, Mass.
