Men's Basketball Holds on for 66-62 Victory over MCLA

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team held off a late surge from MCLA as the Rams secured a 66-62 victory over the Trailblazers this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Kyle Philistin paced the Rams with 13 points, seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block, while JD Okafor finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean narrowly missed a double double as he tallied 10 points with nine rebounds, while Adonis Vashon and Dyree Rogers all finished the contest with nine points apiece. 

  • The two teams traded the lead for the first 11 minutes of the first half with neither team leading by more than four points.  

  • Trailing 18-17 with 8:17 on the clock, the Rams rattled off a 16-2 run over the next six minutes taking a 33-20 lead with just over two to play in the half. The Rams took a 36-25 lead into the locker room led by nine points from Makyle Hayes. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with a 10-4 run taking a 46-29 lead with 16 minutes to play, but MCLA chipped away at the lead pulling within nine, 56-47, with just over six on the clock. 

  • MCLA continued to chip away at the lead and pulled within one, 61-60 with 30 seconds to play.   

  • MCLA was forced to foul, and Adonis Vashon sank both for the Rams pushing the lead back three.  

  • After an MCLA miss on a layup, the Rams rebounded the ball and hit Okafor for a dunk on the break pushing the lead to five and sealing the victory.
