Softball Splits with Fitchburg State to Close Regular Season

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team closed the regular season splitting a pair of games with Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Donna Lee Withington Field.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Fitchburg State 2, Framingham State 2 
Framingham State 5, Fitchburg State 2 

-Records: Framingham State (29-11, 13-1 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (15-22, 7-7 MASCAC)  

- Location: Donna Lee Withington Field Westfield, Mass.   

Game 1 

  • In the opener, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a Keely Scotia RBI single to right center. 

  • The game remained 1-0 until the Falcons pushed across a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 2-1 victory. 

  • Ally Moran took the loss for the Rams going 6.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks. 

  • Talia Duca and Angelina Lynch chipped in with two hits apiece. 

 

Game 2: 

  • In game two, the Falcons grabbed the lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Rams scored a pair in the top of the second taking a 2-0 lead. Scotia plated a run with a single and Olyvia Mendonca scored when Scotia was caught stealing. 

  • The Rams added to their lead with three in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Lynch and a two-run single from Makayla Rooney. 

  • The Falcons got a single run in the bottom of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Mendonca earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams will be the top seed in next week's MASCAC Softball Tournament which begins on Wednesday.
