Women’s Ice Hockey Late Surge Forces OT; Fall to Worcester 5-4

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Framingham State women's ice hockey team scored a powerplay goal in the final moment of regulation to force overtime before falling to Worcester State 5-4 in MASCAC action Friday evening at the New England Sports Center.  

THE BASICS: 

  • Final Score: Worcester State 5, Framingham State 4 (OT) 

  • Records: Worcester State (10-9-1, 7-3-1), Framingham State (0-17-0, 0-11-0) 

  • Location: New England Sports Center – Marlborough, Mass. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • Worcester State opened the scoring at 8:51 with a goal from Sydney Vautour, assisted by Cailey Ryan and Lea Gasper. 

2nd Period: 

  • Worcester State regained the lead just 1:17 into the period with a goal from Emily Johns, assisted by Cailey Ryan. 

  • The Lancers extended their advantage at 5:39 as Abbey Millman scored, with assists from Lea Gasper and Kelly Lovett. 

3rd Period: 

  • Framingham State tied the game just 31 seconds into the period when Sarah Lewis scored off an assist from Isabella Nappi. 

  • Worcester State responded quickly at 3:18, as Emily Johns tallied her second goal of the night unassisted. 

  • Framingham State forced overtime with a power-play goal at 18:07 by Adrianna Rizzotto on a slap shot from the top of the offensive zone the snuck over the right shoulder of the Worcester goalie. 

Overtime: 

  • Worcester State secured the victory at 1:26 of the extra frame when Cailey Ryan netted the game-winning goal unassisted.

  • Cailey Ryan: 1 goal, 2 assists 

  • Emily Johns: 2 goals 

  • Lea Gasper: 2 assists 

  • Lana Pacific: 27 saves for the win 

Framingham State:

  • Worcester State outshot Framingham State 59-31. 

  • Both teams converted once on the power play, each going 1-for-5. 

  • The teams combined for 10 penalties, totaling 20 minutes.
