Softball Splits Doubleheader at Keene State

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State starting pitcher Stephanie Scoville worked five strong innings to pick up her 11th win of the season to help Westfield State to a 10-7 win over Keene State in the opening game of a doubleheader at the Owl Athletic Complex in Keene, N.H. on Thursday afternoon.
 
Keene took game two of the non-conference matchup by a 10-1 final score.  
 
In the opener, Westfield grabbed the lead for good with three runs in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead, and tacked on four more in the fourth to lead 8-3 after an Alyssa Clark home run.
 
Scoville (W, 11-2) went five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs.   Sarah Hough rapped out three hits for Westfield.
 
In game 2, Keene jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first five innings, the big blow a 2-run single from Mia Ferry.
 
Westfield (22-10) scratched together it's lone run on an RBI groundout from Meghan DoyleGianna Conte started and went the distance in the circle for Westfield in taking the loss.   Lilah Demmy tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits for Keene (8-24) to earn the pitching win.

Westfield hosts a key doubleheader on Friday, facing league-leading Framingham State in a showdown of the league's top two teams.  The games start at 3:00 at Westfield State's softball field, with senior day ceremonies to be celebrated between the two games.
