Pressley scores career high but Bridgewater State shoots past Women’s Basketball, 73-55

North Adams, MA- Bridgewater State's Kayla Thomas led all scorers with 20 points to lead the Bears past MCLA 73-55 this afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center. With the win Bridgewater State improves to 19-6 (10-2 MASCAC) while the Trailblazers fall to 4-20 (1-11 MASCAC).

The visitors would jump out to an early 7-0 lead but MCLA would answer with a 10-4 run capped off by an old fashioned 3-point play by Hailey Peabody to cut the deficit to 11-10 with 3:53 left in the first. Unfortunately for the Trailblazers, the Bears would end the quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 21-12 advantage into the first break.

Scoring proved to be a challenge for both teams in the second, but Bridgewater State was able to add to their lead and head into halftime up 31-19.

A Kayla Thomas 3-pointer with two minutes left in the 3rd quarter would put Bridgewater up 48-29. MCLA would answer with back-to-back 3-pointers by Kristie Zator and Maddie Teta but the Bears would head into the final quarter with a 52-35 lead.

MCLA played well in the fourth quarter but was unable to make any serious dent into the Bridgewater State cushion as the Bears took the game, 73-55.

Kayla Thomas would score a game-high 20 points while teammates Kylee Pich (12 points), Sophia Gaucher (11 points) and Sydney Bradbury (10 points) all reached double figures for Bridgewater State.

MCLA was led by Olivia Pressley who finished with a career-high 16 points. Hailey Peabody finished with a double-double (14 points and nine rebounds). Maddie Teta and Kristie Zator both chipped in 12 points.
