Baseball Splits MASCAC Doubleheader with Salem State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team took game one 7-1 over Salem State before falling 5-4 in game two of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader this afternoon at Bowditch Field.

- Records: Framingham State (7-12, 5-3 MASCAC), Salem State (13-10, 6-5 MASCAC) 

- Location: Bowditch Field Framingham, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Game 1: Framingham St. 7, Salem St. 1 

  • After three scoreless innings, the Vikings loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fourth, but Vincent LoGuidice was able to record the final two outs and keep the game scoreless. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a two run double from Daniel Robichaud. 

  • The Vikings got on the board with an unearned run in the top of the fifth, but the Rams answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from JC Espinal. 

  • The Rams added four more in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final score. Ryan Boyle plated two runs with a single and Espinal added an RBI base hit. 

  • LoGuidice earned the victory going six innings, allowing one unearned run on six hits with four strikeouts. PJ Moniz tossed an inning of scoreless relief.  

  • JC Espinal went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Robichaud and Ryan Plocker picked up two hits apiece. 

Game 1: Salem St. 5, Framingham St. 4 

  • The Vikings grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rams used an RBI groundout from Espinal to close the gap to 2-1 after one. 

  • The Rams took the lead with three runs in the bottom second inning. Cameron Gilroy reached on an error allowing the first run to score and Lucas Basile followed with a two run single to center. 

  • Salem State tied the game with two in the fourth before taking the lead for good on a bases loaded hit batter in the top of the sixth. 

  • Joshua Sunderland took the loss on the mound going five and a third allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts. 

  • Basile finished game two 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at Worcester State at 3 p.m.
