Softball Picks Up Two Five Inning Victories over Lesley

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team belted four home runs including two from Angelina Lynch as the Rams defeated Lesley by scores of 14-1 and 9-0 in five innings in a non-conference double header at Maple Street Field.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 14, Lesley 1 (5 Innings) 
Framingham State 9, Lesley 0 (5 Innings) 

-Records: Framingham State (9-7), Lesley (1-13)  

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass.   

Game 1 

  • In the opener, Lesley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a solo homer to left from Mahlia Medina. Brooke Grassia answered for the Rams in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff homerun to left field tying the game. 

  • The Rams tallied four runs in the bottom of the second opening up a 5-1 lead. Angelina Lynch delivered an RBI single and Grassia added a two run single to left. 

  • The Rams struck for five in the bottom of the third and four more in the bottom of the fourth including a two run homer from Lynch to secure the run rule victory.  

  • Grassia finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored, while Lynch finished the game 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. 

  • Makayla Rooney and Camille Desrochers each recorded three hits in the game for the Rams. 

  • Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going three innings allowing just one earned run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Rylynn Witek tossed two innings of scoreless relief and allowed just one hit.  

Game 2: 

  • In game two, the Rams got on the board with three in the bottom of the first inning on RBI singles from Desrochers, Gwendolyn Carpenter and Zoe Smyth. 

  • The Rams added a single run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second and two in the third on a two-run homer from Smyth. 

  • Lynch delivered a solo homerun to start the bottom of the fourth and Smyth added an EBI double in the frame. 

  • Olyvia Mendonca earned the victory in the circle going four shutout innings allowing just two hits with four strikeouts. 

  • Lynch finished the game 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Smyth finished with three hits and four RBI.
