Blazers Clip Falcons

Fitchburg, MA – The Elms College Women's Soccer team won 1-0 last night on the road at Fitchburg State. The Blazers improve to 4-2 on the season.

Elms would control the opening frame outshooting the Falcons 8-1. The Blazers nearly took the lead in the 20th minute when freshman Kayla Pasquel (North Attleboro, MA) fired a shot on frame, but Falcon keeper Sarah Hemmings was able to turn the shot aside to preserve the 0-0 stalemate, going into the half.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg had a pair of quality scoring chances to start the stanza however Blazer goalkeeper Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, CT) was up to the test and kept the game scoreless.

Elms would take back control of the game and eventually brake the 0-0 deadlock in the 68th minute of play, Jordan Bailey (Monson, MA) settled a loose ball in front of the net and tucked a shot inside the left post for her first marker on the season and a 1-0 edge.

The Blazers backline would stand tall in the final five minutes of the game and hold off a late Falcon surge.

Elms is back on the field Saturday 9/14 when they host Mount Holyoke College at 4PM on Leary Field.
