
Women’s Soccer Clipped by Mass. Maritime, 2-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team endured a 2-0 loss to Mass. Maritime Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions sink to 2-6-0 overall with the outcome while the Buccaneers improve to 2-3-1 on the year.
The visitors seized a 1-0 edge in the 16th minute. Shannon Elwood scored her first tally of the season while Kylie Maher picked up her first collegiate assist.
Eastern Nazarene trailed by a goal at the midway point of the contest despite holding a narrow 8-6 advantage in first-half shot attempts and a 2-0 margin in corner kicks earned.
Mass. Maritime chalked up its second score of the night to extend the gap to 2-0. Ally Reddish netted her first marker of the year as Julia Quindley provided the helper.
The Lions manufactured 14 shots on the night and four corner kicks. Kayla Dorn (Hampton, Ill.) recorded a team-high four shots with three attempts on target. Beatriz de Oliveira Segato (Malden, Mass.), Sam Baston (Carver, Mass.), and Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) all fired a pair of shots in the match.
The Buccaneers finished the contest with 15 shots and earned one corner kick.
Senior goalkeeper Sophia Fevola (Wellington, Fla.) collected seven saves in her eighth start of the fall.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene begins conference play October 2 at New England College.
