Softball Sweeps Non-Conference Doubleheader with Lasell

Newton, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took both games of a non-conference doubleheader with Lasell University by scores of 9-4 and 9-0 in five innings.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham State 9, Lasell 4 

• In the opener, the Lasers grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. 

• The Rams answered with a two run single from Haley Jansen in the top of the third closing the gap to 3-2. 

• The Rams took the lead for good in the top of the fourth on RBIs from Talia Duca and Marina Cadena. 

• Kelsey McGuill doubled in two more for the Rams in the top of the fifth and Eliza Carignan added an RBI single in the top of the sixth. Duca capped the scoring for the Rams with a two run double in the seventh. 

• Ally Moran earned the victory going seven innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.  

Game 2: Framingham State 9, Lasell 0 (5 Innings) 

• In game two, the Rams plated five runs in the top of the fifth to take control of the game. Makayla Rooney and Carignan each drove in a pair with doubles and McGuill added an RBI single. 

• The Rams added a single run in the fourth when Gwendolyn Carpenter scored on a wild pitch. 

• The Rams capped the scoring with three in the fifth on a three run homer from Carpenter. 

• Caroline Hughes earned the victory in the circle going five shutout innings, allowing just two hits.
