MCLA falls to #5 Randolph Macon in second semester opener 82-52

Ashland, VA- The MCLA Men's Basketball dropped an 82-52 decision at the hands of national power, fifth ranked Randolph Macon.  The matchup was part of the Randolph Macon Coaches Classic.  The loss drops the Trailblazers to 4-6 heading into the consolation game Wednesday night against Elmira College.

The Trailblazers never led in the game, however they kept it close in the opening half.  MCLA cut into a 15 point first half deficit to seven with just over 2:00 to play on a layup by junior Jon Greenberg (Antwerp, Belgium).  Randolph Macon responded however by scoring the next five to push the halftime edge to 12.

The Yellow Jackets came out of the locker and rattled off 17 straight points to swell the advantage to 52-23, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Greenberg posted another double double collecting 16 points and 12 boards.  Senior Mike Perrault had a solid game as he was the only other Trailblazer in double figures with 11 points, including three from behind the arc.

Randolph Macon was led by Eric Pugh's 16 points, while teammates Calvin Croskey (11) and Brandon Braxton (10) joined him in double figures.

MCLA will meet Elmira College in the consolation game scheduled for tomorrow evening.
