
Lancers Strike Down Women's Hockey 5-2
WORCESTER, MA - On Saturday, November 16th the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team traveled down to hill to take on the Worcester State University Lancers for a Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 5-2.
The AMCATS competed early in the first period to keep the game tight however the Lancers would manage to squeak one past the AMCATS goaltender off a tip from Olivia Fehl. The Lancers would hold onto the one goal lead for the remainder of the first period.
The Lancers would score two more goals late in the second period after Stevie Levesque stopped and impressive 19 shots to fend off the attacking lancers offense. As the game entered the third period the AMCATS found themselves trailing behind the Lancers 3-0.
Undeterred, the AMCATS came out in the third period and capitalized on an early power play opportunity. The AMCATS first goal of the evening came off the stick of Grace Holden off a shot from Lauren Sundgren. Just under ten minutes later the AMCATS would score off the power play again. This time off a tip from Olympia Myers. Despite cutting the Lancers lead down to just one goal, the AMCATS were met with two empty net goals from the Lancers to finalize the game at 5-2.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Stevie Levesque made her first career NCAA start in net for the AMCATS.
- Levesque also stopped a career high of 4o saves.
- Grace Holden recorded her first career NCAA goal with the AMCATS.
- The AMCATS scored their first two goals of the season against the Lancers.
- The AMCATS went 2 for 3 on the Powerplay.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Friday, November 22nd where they will host the Plymouth State University Panthers for their Home Opener. Opening puck drop is set for 5:40pm at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA.
