Late Score Sends Springfield Past Men’s Soccer

Framingham, Mass.- Springfield College freshman Aiden Casinghino (Brimfield, Mass.) headed in a goal in the 89th minute to break a 1-1 tie and lead the Pride past Framingham State in non-conference action Monday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Pride had a good look on a one-time play inside five minutes remaining in the first half but Rams keeper Jake Hartshorn (Chelmsford, Mass.) made a diving save to preserve the tie.
- In the 55th minute the Rams finally broke through. Nahuel Algibay (Montevideo, Uraguay) carried the ball near the goal line and crossed a pass from left to right which was booted back inside the left post by Dante Mancini (Hopedale, Mass.) for the 1-0 advantage.
- The Pride tied the score in the 78th minute after a Rams foul from 25 yards that Jack Rosenberg (Simsbury, Conn.) buried into the corner of the net.
- The Pride had a great chance to take the lead with about six minutes to play when Jaxon Tamulaites (Bristol, RI) gathered a 50-50 ball for a breakaway but his ensuing shot was saved by Hartshorn.
- The Pride took the advantage for good when Casinghino headed in a long strike from Andrew Ma (Upper Saddle River, NJ) in the 89th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Pride goalkeeper Chris Prizio (Trumbull, Conn.) made six stops in net for the Pride while his counterpart Hartshorn turned away five shots in net for the Rams.
- The Pride outshot the Rams 18-to-15 in the contest while the Rams were called for nine fouls to the Springfield seven.
- Both teams had eight corner kick opportunities.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 5th when they host Worcester State in a MASCAC clash starting at 11am. The Pride will travel to Clark University on the same day for a NEWMAC tilt at 1pm.
