MCLA suffers setback against Williams 83-62

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Basketball team held a four point advantage at the half, but ultimately succombed to crosstown rival Williams College 83-62.  Five Trailblazers scored in double figures as MCLA dropped to 3-2, while Williams improved to 4-0.

The Trailblazers came out strong in the first half as Sophomore Chris Harris and Junior Jon Greenberg combined to tally 19 points and 15 caroms in the half.  Harris also clamped down on Williams' top scorer Blake Schultz in the first half, limiting him to six points as MCLA carried a 38-34 lead into the break.  MCLA forced 10 turnovers in the half.

The Ephs came out of the locker room and matched the Trailblazers energy, quickly seizing the lead on a layup by Schultz with 17 minutes to play.  Williams would grab a double digit lead at the 12 minute mark as Harlan Dodson knocked down his fifth three pointer of the evening. 

MCLA would cut the margin to six on two occasions as Karl Sims scored on consecutive possessions.  Williams however, would extend the lead again and pull away for the final margin.

MCLA was led by Greenberg and fellow senior Mike Perrault who each had 12 points.  Greenberg would add his fourth double double in a row by adding 16 boards.  Freshman Bilal Shabazz, Sims, and Harris each had double figures for MCLA.

Williams was led by Dodson and James Wang, who each had a game high of 19 points. 

MCLA returns to action next weekend when they face Southern Vermont at the RPI tournament.
