Women's Basketball Falls to Worcester State 76-67

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team was defeated this evening by Worcester State University by a score of 76-67 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Logan Gymnasium.   

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (12-9, 5-4 MASCAC), Worcester State (9-15, 3-7 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds from Faith Greene. Greene connected on 7-of-16 from the floor and added an assist and a steal. 

  • Jacqueline Schels chipped in with 15 points of her own to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Katherine Haselton also added 15 points, two assists and four steals. 

  • Kiara Cerruti came off the bench to score 13 points as she connected on 3-of-6 from behind the arc and added six rebounds and a steal. 

  • The opening quarter went back and forth until the Rams used five straight points from Kiara Cerruti including a steal and breakaway layup to lead 14-10 with just over a minute to play. The Lancers closed the quarter with a bucket from Alana Smith and trailed 14-12 after one frame. 

  • The second quarter mirrored the first with the two teams trading the lead until the Lancers closed the frame with a 15-0 run taking a 37-25 lead into the half. 

  • In the third, the Rams chipped away at the Lancers lead pulling within four on a Faith Greene layup with just over a minute to play. The Lancers closed the quarter with a three to lead 54-47 heading to the fourth. 

  • The Rams opened the fourth with an 8-2 capped by a Greene three to pull within one, 56-55.  The Rams closed the gap to one on multiple occasions, but each time the Lancers would hit a key bucket and maintain the lead down the stretch.
