Montville Scores Late to Lift Women's Soccer Past Salem State
Jenny Montville's goal with 6:24 left snapped a 1-all tie and gave the Leopards the win

SALEM, Mass. – Jenny Montville's goal in the 84th minute snapped a 1-all tie and lifted the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team (3-2-1) to a 2-1 win over Salem State (1-4-0) in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The teams traded shots on goal in the opening stages of the contest before Erin Londregan and Liv Valentine put shots on net in a 55-second span. However, both were saved by Salem State's Ava Guyer.
- In the 12th minute, the Leopards nearly went ahead but Rachel Hagerty's shot hit the crossbar. Nearly seven and a half minutes later, Hagerty had a bid that was saved by Guyer.
- Salem State broke the ice at the 21:34 mark on an unassisted marker from Anna Latta.
- Bryce Bateman put two shots on net – both of which were saved by Guyer – in a 52-second span. With 1:44 left in the half, Bateman set up Lily Carlson as the Black & Gold tied the score at 1-all.
- With time winding down in the opening frame the Leopards nearly went ahead, 2-1 as Londregan served a corner kick towards the box. Maddy Lukang's shot off the corner was saved as time expired.
- Carlson had a pair of shots on net within a span of 5:20, however, was unable to put in the go-ahead goal. In the 77th minute, the Vikings had a corner kick but were unable to generate a scoring chance.
- Montville poked home her team-leading fourth goal (in four games) when she took a pass from Londregan and found the back of the net with 6:24 remaining.
- Salem State had a chance to attempt to tie the game in the 86th minute with a corner kick but could not create a scoring chance.
- Shyla Kulesza made two saves for Wentworth, while Guyer made 11 stops for the Vikings. The Leopards had a 17-4 shot advantage (including 12-3 in the first half), while Salem State had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the first all-time meeting between the two teams.
