Volleyball sweeps Cobleskill in nonconference action

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team made short work of SUNY Cobleskill tonight at the Amsler Campus Center sweeping the Tigers 25-19, 25-20, 25-23. With the win MCLA improves to 14-7 on the season while Cobleskill falls to 5-16.

The visitors jumped out to a 9-4 lead early in the first set before an 8-3 Trailblazer run would pull MCLA even at 12-12. Tied again at 16-16, the Trailblazers would use a 9-3 run to take the first set 25-19.

MCLA would never trail in the second set taking the first five points and leading by as many as ten points as late as 19-9. The Tigers would trim the deficit to three at 23-20 but an Anais Badio (Las Vegas, NV) kill, and a Chloie Garber (Eagle River, WA) service ace would give the Trailblazers a 2-0 set lead.

After both teams went on mini-runs to start the third set and found themselves tied at 5-5, it was nip and tuck with neither team able to enjoy more than a three point lead. An Alexis Miranda kill would pull the Tigers even at 23-23, but MCLA would win the next two points to take the set 25-23 and the match 3 sets to none.

Miranda would lead Cobleskill with 11 kills and 4 digs.

MCLA was led by Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) who had 13 kills and 10 digs, Chloie Garber who had 8 kills and 14 digs and Anais Badio who finished with 8 kills and 5 digs. Shannon O'Brien (Unionville, CT) also finished with 29 assists.

SUNY Cobleskill will conclude its regular season schedule tomorrow hosting Bard College at 7pm. MCLA with also wrap up iregular season play this Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater State at 4pm.
