Softball: Colonels Outrank Buccaneers in Doubleheader
MILTON, MA -- Buccaneer softball traveled to Curry today for their first official away games of the season. In a double header against the Colonels, two evenly matched teams played to 4-3 and 8-0 finals, both in favor of the hosts.
Game One

- Captains Camryn Roberts-Capak and Malarie Pittsley along with Maia Ostromecki each had two hits in game one.
- Pittsley, Kylie Deasy, and Mikayla Hunter each drove in a run in the loss.

- Ostromecki recorded the only extra-base hit, a double.

- The Colonels had six hits in the game, two from Madelyn White.

- Natalia Okleasky scored twice in the game and drew two walks.
- Lexi Buckner and Madison Schwartz each had a double.
- Okleasky, Jordan Ferullo and Emily Bussiere all had a stolen base in the win.
How It Happened
The Buccaneers took an early lead in the top of the first on a Pittsley single to left center that scored Pope. The Colonels matched the Bucs run in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-1 after one inning.
Curry went on to score in the third to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth they added to their lead, extending it to 3-1 on a McDermott double.
In the bottom of the fourth, Curry added another to make it 3-1. They chipped away again in the fifth to go up 4-1.
In the top of the sixth, Maritime pulled within one run, rallying to score two runs. One on a Deasy single, the other on a Hunter ground out that scored the team's third run.
Though the Buccaneers threatened in the top of the seventh they were unable to bring around the tying run that was in scoring position, dropping game one 4-3.

How It Happened
The teams played to a 0-0 tie through 3.5 innings, an old fashioned pitchers duel for the first half of the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, Curry scored three runs to break the scoreless tie and take the 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Colonels not only extended their lead but took the win via run rule, 8-0 as they scored five runs in the inning.

The Buccaneers return home on Friday for a doubleheader against Dean College beginning at 4pm at Rollins Field.
