Volleyball sweeps Albertus Magnus

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team made short work of Albertus Magnus tonight at the Amsler Campus gymnasium sweeping the Falcons 25-13, 25-20, 25-17. With the win the Trailblazers improve to 10-5 while Albertus Magnus falls to 5-13.

The Falcons would jump out to an early 10-5 lead in the first set. But that success would be short lived as the Trailblazers went on a dominating 20-3 run to close the first set out, 25-10.

The second set would see the visitors creep out to another early 6-1 advantage. But as they did in the first, the Trailblazers would come roaring back with an 11-4 run sprinting ahead to a 17-10 lead. The Falcons would battle back to cut the deficit down to three at 17-14, but MCLA proved too much winning the set 25-20 to take a commanding two set to none lead.

It would be the Trailblazers who jumped out to an early lead in the third set, 9-2. The Falcons would claw back to take the lead at 16-15, but MCLA would close out the match on sophomore Chloie Garber's (Eagle River, AK) 9th kill which capped off a 9-1 run to end the match.

Garber would add 18 digs to her 9 kills. First years Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) (10 kills, 9 digs) Anais Badio (Las Vegas, NV) (7 kills,6 digs) and Shannon O'Brien (Unionville, CT) 21 assists) were all instrumental in the win. Sophomore Ellie Walter-Goodspeed (Auburn, WA) finished with a game-high 18 digs.

Albertus Magnus will next face Norwich University and host Rivier University this Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match. MCLA next travels to take on Sage this Friday at 6pm for a nonconference match.
