Vikings conquer Lynx 97-72

SALEM, Mass. - The Lesley University men's basketball team visited a highly touted Salem State College team on Tuesday night and ended up on the losing end of a 97-72 score.  With the loss, the Lynx dropped to 5-13 (3-3 North Atlantic Conference) while the Vikings improved to 14-5 (4-2 MASCAC).

The Lynx were once again paced by Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) who had a team-high 19 points on 7-of-9 from the floor.  James Parker (Sandwich, Mass.) had his best game of the season as he finished with 14 points due in large part to hitting 4-of-8 three-pointers.  Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) had his sixth double-double of the season as he tallied 10 points and 13 rebounds in just 24 minutes of work.

The Vikings were led by three-point assassin Alex Finn (Ashby, Mass.) who shot 71.4% from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points.  Salem State had three other double-digit scorers as Dylan Holmes (Groton, Mass.), Marquis Victor (Lawrence, Mass.), and Thomas Henderson (Westboro, Mass.) finished with 15, 13, and 12 points, respectively.

The two teams were virtually tied in every category except points from the bench.  The Vikings held that advantage as they got 53 points from their bench compared to the Lynx who only got 25.

Lesley will kick off a series of home conference games starting with UMaine-Farmington on Friday night at 8:30 p.m.  Salem State will face Fitchbury State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
