Anna Maria Slips by Women’s Hockey, 4-2

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Ice Hockey team welcomed the Anna Maria College to the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink this evening for a MASCAC matchup with the AMCATS. MCLA got goals from Belle Wurmser and Alexandrea Bednar but couldn't overcome a pair of third-period goals from the visitors.

- Series History: Anna Maria leads the all-time series 4-0-1, including a 3-0 win when the teams last met on February 3, 2024, at Anna Maria. The AMCATs won the first-ever meeting 3-2 on November 9, 2023, in North Adams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA posted the game's first goal, with sophomore forward Belle Wurmser (Brick, NJ / Princeton Tiger Lillies) netting her first goal of the year, unassisted with just under 12 minutes off the first-period clock.
- The AMCATs then responded with a power play goal about five minutes later. Emma McGuane scored with assists credited to Madisyn Dechant and Jordan Bleaney, sending the teams into the first intermission tied at 1-1.
- The second period played out very similarly to the first, with the Trailblazers again scoring first. This time, it was senior forward Alexandrea Bednar (Vita, MB / Univ. of Wisconsin–Eau Claire) who lit the lamp, with the assist being chalked up to sophomore forward Maggie Danchak (Chalfont, PA / Philadelphi Little Flyers) with 8:47 off the clock.
- Morgan Daly offered the counter for Anna Maria less than four minutes later, scoring at 12:24 of the period with a helper from Ceili Nolan.
- The AMCATS then pulled away in the final frame, netting two goals. The first was by Olympia Myers, assisted by Daly at 2:42. The second goal came with exactly 60 seconds left in regulation, scored by Nolan, with Lauren Sundgren assisting.
