Softball Drops Conference Doubleheader to Lancers
BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- Softball played host to Worcester State in a conference doubleheader at Rollins Field on Monday afternoon. Though the Bucs kept game one close, the Lancers came out firing on all cylinders in game two to sweep the season series, 2-1 and 20-4.

- Lanpher had a double to her credit.
How It Happened
Game one of the doubleheader was fairly straight forward with both pitching staffs and defenses playing well. It took until the fourth inning for either team to get on the board.
In the top of the fourth, Worcester scored both of their runs. Koziol scored on a throwing error by the Bucs on a bunt from Bartlett. Andry then grounded out to second to score Bartlett and give the Lancers a 2-0 lead at the time.
In the bottom of the fifth, Maritime cut the Lancer lead in half on a Butler single to right, scoring Ostromecki.
Things settled down in the final two innings with the Bucs unable to close the gap and the Lancers unable to add insurance. The game ended 2-1 to Worcester.

How It Happened
After a close game in game one, the Lancers did not mess around in game two scoring four in the top of the first inning. Maritime answered in the bottom of the first with a run of their own but still trailed 4-1 after one.
In the second, Worcester scored one on a wild pitch with Lanpher at third. They went on to tack on eight in the third inning, two more in the fourth and five in the fifth, including four on Schwalm's inside the park grand slam to right center.
In the bottom of the fifth, Maritime didn't go down without a fight. They scored three runs, two on a Pittsley double and one on a Wright single. Worcester shut down the rally there and took game two, 20-4, in five innings.
What's Next
The Buccaneers will travel to Anna Maria on Wednesday for their final non-conference games of the season with the AMCATS beginning at 4pm.
