Tietgens breaks her own record with 60th point this season

The first half was a see saw affair as both teams had good chances to break the ice.  The game changing play came late in the first half when MCLA keeper Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) committed a foul in the box resulting in an Emmanuel penalty kick with three minutes remaining.  Wehner redeemed herself as she stopped the penalty kick taken by Saints top scorer Kate McKenna.  MCLA would quickly transition after a Saints corner kick as junior forward Danielle Parenteau (Southampton, MA) tallied her third goal of the season off a tremendous pass from Sam Miller (Reading, MA).   The Trailblazers would close out the half with a slim 1-0 lead.

MCLA would ride the end of the half momentum into the second stanza when junior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) would add to her school goal scoring record just 3:42 into the half.  She dribbled past a defender to the top of the box before beating Saints keeper Jessica D'Ottavio to the top left corner for an unassisted goal, her 27th of the season.

Tietgens would add another record to her impressive collection when she knocked home a Parenteau rebound for her second goal of the day, her 28th this season.  The goal would also be her 60th point of the season breaking her previous mark of 59 set one year ago.

Wehner would earn the win in goal stopping five shots on the afternoon.  MCLA held a slim advantage in shots 19-17.
