Tietgens sets career mark, leads MCLA past Bard

North Adams, MA- Junior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) scored two goals to set the school career record for goals as MCLA powered past Bard College 4-1 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, MCLA evens their record at 2-2, while Bard falls to 3-2.

Tietgens broke the record in the 26th minute as she drilled home a great feed from junior Sam Miller (Reading, MA).  "It feels good to finally get past the mark, it is now off of my shoulders and our team can concentrate on moving on to the remainder of the season", Tietgens said.  She came into 2009 needing two goals to break the record

Her record setting goal tied the game as Lauren Dorsey-Spitz put Bard on top just 12 minutes into the contest.  After Tietgens tied the game, MCLA continued on the attack and pulled ahead just one minute later on junior Harmony McGorman's (Orleans, MA) goal off a Tietgens miss.  The Trailblazers would take the 2-1 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, MCLA padded the lead when Tietgens took a slick feed from McGorman beating Bard keeper Lena James to the opposite post.  Freshman Lindsay Barbolla would round out the scoring netting her third goal of the season in the 85th minute.

Sophomore Jen Wehner was solid in net for MCLA stopping 7 shots.  MCLA returns to the field on Wednesday when they host Castleton State College.
